Cycling Route Sabljaci

Recommended Cycling Route:
The route starts in Kučinić Selo, a few kilometers from Ogulin, and passes through Dujmići, Desmerice, Lug, Ribarići, Sveta Nedjelja, and Sabljake, returning to Kučinić. Along the way is Sabljaci Lake, one of the largest in Croatia, home to cormorants, wild ducks, and all freshwater fish species. The route combines easy stretches along the lake with a moderate climb towards Desmerice, offering beautiful views, swans, and various activities along the shore. In Ribarići, there is also a Bike Park for exploring local forest trails.

Through Ribarići and Sveta Nedjelja, the eye is drawn to the large fields around the lake, each rich in minerals and moisture, ideal for growing the famous Ogulin cabbage. The soil is dark, fine, and full of nutrients, and combined with the traditional pickling method, it produces the renowned local specialty.

The route then continues on a smooth asphalt road. At the crossroads behind the Sabljaci campsite, which also offers bicycle rentals, turn left towards the lake before the bridge. Riding through the weekend settlement, you can enjoy panoramic views of the route you started with. Children’s playgrounds, beach volleyball, a mini bar, and piers make the lake an active and popular spot during spring and summer months. Restaurants and private accommodations are well available, and the route is full of natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes.
